Welcome to my virtual classroom!

Picture
Over the course of this school year it is my hope that you will be fascinated with ancient history and the civilizations that flourished during that time period. Exploring the links on this website is one way you can make sure that happens. There are pictures, assignments, and website links for each unit that will take you to games, information, videos and interactive websites related to the social studies standards we will cover. Come back often because I'm always adding new things :).

Salvete! (That means "Hi!" in Latin)

We've made it to our final unit for the year...Rome!

ROMULUS & REMUS CARTOON STRIP: Don't forget that your Romulus and Remus cartoon strip is due FRIDAY. Make it beautiful and informative :).

WEBSITES: Be sure to spend some time each week exploring the fun games, videos and information on the Rome Websites page.

CST: Sixth grade students will take the Language Arts and Math CSTs next Tuesday-Friday. We have a special schedule for those days. Parents, please note that students will be dismissed from school at 1:30pm Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Be sure to go to bed early, eat a good breakfast and do your best!

FUN FAMILY ADVENTURES: Remember, there are LOTS of fun things going on this month in Southern California related to social studies. Check out the Fun Family Activities page and try to make it to one of the Greek festivals :).

GETTY VILLA: Talk to your parents and try to schedule a visit to the Getty Villa in Malibu on a Saturday or Sunday between now and the end of the year. They have an amazing collection of armor, statues, pottery, and mosaics from ancient Greece and Rome. Don't forget, you can get extra credit for your 2nd Semester Scholarship grade by turning in a completed Getty Villa Extra Credit form.
** Go to http://www.getty.edu/visit/hours/ to reserve your tickets ($15 per car).
** Watch a 12 minute video about the history of the Getty Villa (click here for the video).
** Check out the pictures I took at the Getty Villa of the Greek statues and artifacts on the Greek Pictures page and the amazing pictures of the villa itself on the Rome Pictures page. So cool!

Ciao for now!
